He studied communication at the Buenos Aires University, graphic design at the Panamerican Art School and at the Roskilde University in Denmark.
During the last 20 years, Marcelo has worked in Copenhagen and Barcelona in the confluences between graphic design and art. He has published a book called “The secret book of secret places, Copenhagen” and he has participated in several exhibitions. The photographic collages of Barcelona are part of a line of work in which the artist is working called “City patterns & strange loops” about cities and mirrors.
Lerer is looking for cities and mirrors, and in his research, there is Barcelona: a city that fascinates him.
He considers that we, the people, are the ones who give meaning and stories to the cities.
We reflect on the cities in our own search. We travel searching ourselves along the way.
In that way, the aesthetics and the shapes of “City patterns & strange loops” is a search of the infinite continuity; it is a dream of the city that never ends and continuously surprises us.
He admits that he is interested in an impossible realism of that symmetry built from an impossible reality, nevertheless, it is possible in his collages.

Barcelona’s Cathedral was the most important and most visited building of the city for many years. Today it keeps its architectonic beauty. With his personal graphic treatment, Lerer creates an intriguing work with realistic colours.
In StockLerer is specialist in taking photos of well-known spots and buildings of Barcelona, doing a surprising digital retouch work at the end of the process. His personal mark is creating impossible reflexes that finally achieves an image of attractive composition. Here we can see the typical lamps of the Paseo de Gracia and the background of a clean blue sky...
In StockThe Batlló House is another building designed by Gaudí. It is also part of the beautiful Paseo de Gracia.
In StockStreets, alleys and passages full of life and colour inside the emblematic quarter of El Born. Lerer applies a mirror effect that produces surprise and suggesting plasticity.
In StockVia Laietana is one of the main streets in Barcelona, which takes us from the city centre to the sea. In this image, we can see a superb and majestic neoclassical building. Again, Lerer surprises us with this digital retouch of multi-mirror effect.
In StockThe Music Palau (Palace), is one of the symbols of the Catalan culture and in special, of Barcelona. This is an example of the Modernism architecture, designed by Puig i Cadafalch that Lerer captures by using his personal resource of the multi-mirror effect. As a result, it is an evident and plastically attractive image.
